Glenmorangie Whiskey Tasting

Anyone who knows me knows I am a sucker for good food, great drinks and even better company (aka the holy triad of a successful night)
And I can't think of every going to Jack and Jill Food Co. And not finding and not finding the triad!

This time I found myself at one of my favourite spots for the Glenmorangie Whiskey tasting, presented by Robert Glen, from the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy Group. The man was incredibly knowledgeable of his product and his presentation was wittey, informative and easy going, albeit somewhat dry and filled with chucklesome dad jokes, though that only added to his charm and warmth.

Robert educated us on the complexities and intricacies of four different single malt scotch whiskies from the Glenmorangie House (including the fact that our whiskeys in SA have a slightly higher alcohol content, 43% per bottle as compared to the 40% International standard)

As always Jill Nowers provided us with a lush feast, both for our eyes and our stomachs. For starters we helped ourselves to an array cheeses, cold meats, fruits, condiments and crispy bruschetta; all arranged colourfully on multiple cheese boards on the long table.

And for mains we had rustic salads, homemade condiments along with medium rare beef fillet slices and pork belly cubes (might I add that I had a few servings of the pork just for the crackling, I am not even a fan of the stuff! But it was just that gooooood) all presented in the traditional Italian style of serving food.

While for dessert Jill cooled us off with vanilla ice cream topped with espresso and citrus liqueur (yay more adult juice!)

The beauty about events these tasting events at Jack and Jill Food Co. Is that Jill tries to get her guests interacting and mingling with each other and this always creates an intimate and familiar setting for regulars and allows newcomers the opportunity to meet new acquaintances and feel a certain type of comradeship that is often hard to come by in high end eateries.
